The Town of Erving, MA
The last town incorporated in Franklin County, Erving, Massachusetts is home to just under 1,500 residents and is a mix of residential, business, recreational, and farm land. The town also has two villages: Erving Center and Millers Falls.
Children in Erving can attend a number of area schools. The town also has its own police and fire departments, a public library, and several small stores and restaurants.
One of Erving’s most popular attractions is the Erving State Forest. The Forest, which encompasses over 1,895 acres of land, includes hiking trails, camping sites, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and winter sports. It also allows for fishing, boating, and swimming in Laurel Lake.
For indoor fun in Erving, try the French King Bowling Center, which features unique New England-style candlepin bowling, a banquet facility, and other entertainment.
Finally, if it’s scenery you’re looking for, check out the view from the French King Bridge, which connects Erving to Gill. The bridge offers spectacular leaf-peeping and you can see the French King Rock, where legend states that a French officer sheltered his troop on the rock during the French and Indian War of the mid-1700s.
Erving is a great place for outdoor fun and scenery.
